Half Day | Departs at 8:00 a.m. | One of the oldest and best preserved cities in the New World, the colorful city of Granada has a fascinating history and rich culture. Browse outdoor markets, stroll through the Plaza Central and admire the city’s iconic sites on foot and horse-drawn carriage. Popular stops include the city Cathedral and the Convent and Museum of San Francisco with its gallery of pre-Colombian sculptures. Your private guide will relate Granada’s storied past and introduce you to the best shopping and dining available in the bustling city.
Granda Colonial & Isletas Tour:
Full Day | Departs Daily at 8:00 a.m. | Bustling Granada, the oldest European-founded city in the Americas, is a must-see on any trip to Nicaragua. A horse-drawn carriage leads guests down Granada’s cobblestone streets. The ride offers stunning views of the city’s Spanish colonial architecture. Stops include the San Franscisco Convent Museum (which houses many pre-Columbian artifacts), the vibrant city market, and several culturally significant churches and monuments. For a change of scene, the second half of the day takes guests to the “Isletas de Granada,” 350+ small islands just off the coast of Granada in Lake Nicaragua. There, guests will be treated to a delicious local island lunch followed by a bit of wildlife sightseeing by boat before returning to Granada.
Mombacho Volcano Tour with Hiking and Canopy:
Half Day | Departs at 3:30 p.m. | This evening tour begins with a ride to the Volcan Masaya National Park. Our expert guide will lead your group through park’s museum and interpretation center, where guests will discover the volcano’s geological history and ancient folklore. Following the introduction, the tour proceeds to the crater, where visitors can peer into the active volcano and sometimes see the reflection of lava flowing down below. With stunning backdrops, parakeet sightings, photo-perfect moments, this tour makes the perfect sunset activity.
Tour Masaya Volcano, Market & Pueblos Blancos:
Full Day | Departs Daily at 8:30 a.m. | Watch the iconic smoke billow out of Volcan Masaya! Upon arrival, guests will receive a guided tour of the park’s museum and interpretation center, which features the region’s geological history and local mythology. Next, guests will head to the crater itself for a chance to peer into the volcano. Several short trails and viewpoints line the trails and provide excellent views of the countryside and volcanic landscape. After visiting Volcan Mayasa, the tour stops by the famous Masaya handicraft market, where a number of internationally acclaimed artisans display and sell their artwork. The tour concludes with stops in Catarina and San Juan de Oriente, two of the Pueblos Blancos, which are also famous for artisanal excellence.
Scuba Diving Tour:
Half Day | Wondering what it feels like to breathe underwater or swim alongside a school of rainbow bass? This three-hour introductory course is perfect for those who want to want to give Scuba a whirl. Begin with a short classroom session and then progress to the pool. Once you’ve mastered underwater breathing and equipment basics, our expert guide will take you for a dive out on the crystal-blue Laguna de Apoyo, where you will glide past cichlids, freshwater turtles, and over ancient volcanic thermal vents. For those who hold already PADI Scuba certifications, we also offer open-water half day adventure dives and opportunities to further your certification level.
Leon Dity & Sandboarding Cerro Negro Tour:
Full Day | Departs at 7:30 a.m. | Surf down Cerro Negro, one of the youngest volcanoes in the world. This active volcano was born in 1850 and last erupted in 1999. Hike up the volcano’s lunar landscape and appreciate its charismatic crater and the amazing views overlooking the Nicaraguan countryside from the top. Guides will provide guests with volcano “surfboards” and guests can surf the volcano standing up or sitting down. This extreme experience is not for the faint of heart! After you get your heart pumping, head west to the Pacific Ocean for a fresh seafood lunch before heading back to the hotel.
Hike from Pacaya to Catarina:
Full Day | Departs at 8:00 a.m. | Nicaragua’s Pueblos Blancos are famous for their outstanding artisanal traditions, Spanish architecture, and unique customs. This tour begins with a stop in the charming town of Catarina, where our expert guides lead guests past stunning gardens and lake vistas. The next stop on the trip is San Juan de Oriente, home to world-renowned ceramic workshops and artists. Here, guests can speak with local artists and get a feel for the colorful nature and history of Nicaraguan art. The final stop on the tour is Masaya, the cultural heart of Nicaragua. Masaya bleeds local flavor, color, tradition, and artwork, and the artisan market here is the country’s largest.
